In addition to the technique-oriented learning of gymnastics-specific elements, students in this field of movement gain a wide range of experience in standard-free movement on equipment (e.g. group and synchronised gymnastics), in other "gymnastics-oriented" sports (e.g. trampolining, acrobatics), as well as in movement arts and current trends (e.g. parkour and freerunning). They also learn (based on the NRW core curriculum for the subject area of sport) to weigh up risks, assess their own performance, express fear and overcome it. Furthermore, they acquire skills in helping and securing as well as in the safe assembly and dismantling of gymnastics equipment.
