Sarah Loy has been leading the‘Home Economics and Nutrition Didactics’ researchgroup as a junior professor since 1 August 2026. Her particular research and teaching interests lie in sustainability-oriented nutrition and consumer education, as well as in the associated importance of fostering democratic values.
Sarah Loy studied Oecotrophology (B.Sc.) and Social Work (B.A.) at Münster University of Applied Sciences. At the same time, she completed her teacher training for vocational colleges (BA and MEd) at the University of Münster. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Vocational Teacher Training at Münster University of Applied Sciences.
Whilst working, she completed her PhD at the Faculty of Education Studies at the University of Hamburg on implementation strategies for vocational education for sustainable development in the field of nutrition and Home Economics.
Before being appointed to Paderborn University, she served as head of department at the Centre for Teacher Education at the University of Münster.
Above all, she is looking forward to supporting trainee teachers in their professional development and discussing controversial social issues with them.
