In July 2026, we successfully completed the field phase of the GlyCoBrain dietary intervention study. Following the completion of the first sub-study involving 90 participants at the end of 2025, the final data collection for the second sub-study, involving a total of 92 participants, took place in July 2026.
Although we celebrated this milestone together, the work is not yet complete. The team from the two research groups – Nutritional Science and Public Health Nutrition – at the Institute for Nutrition, Consumption and Health is now set to begin analysing the extensive data collected.
The aim of the study is to investigate possible links between the glycaemic index of breakfast, the occurrence of reactive hypoglycaemia and changes in memory performance and attention in young adults. The study also takes chronotype into account, which describes an individual’s preference for when to sleep and when to be awake.
We will report on the results of our analyses in due course.
