EuroMov Digital Health in Motion, University of Montpellier, France
Stéphane Perrey (France) is Full Professor of Sport Sciences and Director of the EuroMov "Digital Health in Motion" research center at the Université de Montpellier, and a laureate of the Institut Universitaire de France. The center's focus on the interface between brain, movement, and health closely aligns with the congress theme "Neurocognitive Control of Movement and Performance." His research examines neurophysiological and neurocognitive mechanisms of movement control, with particular emphasis on brain-muscle interactions, training-induced neural plasticity, and the role of central fatigue in physical capacity and sport performance. Internationally recognized for pioneering non-invasive brain measurements during exercise and advancing near-infrared spectroscopy to study cerebral and muscular oxygenation and fatigue, he has helped establish brain imaging as a tool in exercise and sport science. By combining fNIRS, EEG, and other neuroimaging techniques with advanced movement and performance diagnostics, his work directly links neurocognitive control processes to the regulation of athletic performance.
