Dr. Alli Gokeler erhielt 1990 seinen Abschluss in Physiotherapie von der Rijkshogeschool Groningen. Von 1991-2001 arbeitete er als Physiotherapeut in den USA und Deutschland. Nach seiner Rückkehr in die Niederlande erwarb er 2003 seinen Abschluss in Sportphysiotherapie an der Universität Utrecht. 2005 begann er mit seinem Doktoratsprojekt am Universitätsklinikum Groningen, Zentrum für Rehabilitation. Er hat ein besonderes Interesse an der motorischen Kontrolle nach ACL-Verletzungen. Derzeit arbeitet er an einem Post-Doc-Track mit einem besonderen Schwerpunkt auf der Entwicklung von Präventionsprogrammen, die darauf abzielen, das Auftreten von ACL-Verletzungsraten und das Auftreten von Osteoarthritis zu reduzieren. Das Hauptaugenmerk der aktuellen Forschung liegt auf der Frage, welche Eingriffe neuroplastische Veränderungen des Gehirns induzieren könnten, die in Bezug auf die Vorbeugung von Verletzungen und die Rückkehr zum Sport nach einer Verletzung vorteilhaft wären.
